In fall 2008, MU welcomed 30,200 students representing every county in Missouri, every state in the nation and more than 100 countries.
The National Science Foundation has recognized MU nationally as a top 10 university for successfully integrating research into undergraduate education.

In 2005, The New York Times ranked MU seventh in the nation in the number of graduates who are chief executive officers of companies listed in Standard and Poor's 500 Index.
Gov. Jay Nixon and seven previous Missouri governors are Mizzou alumni. Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster and Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder also graduated from Mizzou.
Two-thirds of Missouri veterinarians and a fifth of Missouri attorneys are Mizzou graduates.
Ninety-two percent of College of Education graduates stay in Missouri.
The Mizzou legacy is carried on by approximately a quarter of a million living alumni across the world. Nearly half live in Missouri.
