A Mizzou professor examines a Mississippi photographer
As a photographer in Mississippi from 1920 to 1960, O.N. Pruitt was “a very good photographer and in the right place at the right time,” says Berkley Hudson, assistant professor of journalism. Hudson and colleagues have worked to archive and research Pruitt’s work, which covers small town Southern life in the era of segregation. Read about it, view photos and listen to commentary online in the Spring 2007 Illumination magazine.
